VGO was retained to inspect a series of four solvent and hazardous waste storage tanks. The tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 gallons, had reportedly been in operation for 15 years, and were showing some signs of corrosion.
The tanks were inspected by an American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) Level III inspector utilizing Ultrasonic Testing (UT), supervised by a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
The wall thickness was determined and compared to original design specifications. An inspection schedule was developed to assist in assessing the remaining life of the tanks.
Results of the inspection indicated that a comprehensive internal inspection could be delayed until a scheduled downtime, minimizing the impact to client operations.
